Community excluded in planning reforms
Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP said the fundamental principles of any planning reform must be sustainability and the right of local communities to have a say in the future of their living environment. Ms Moore said proposals contained in a NSW Department of Planning discussion paper threaten to exclude local communities. "The City of Sydney promotes excellence in the built environment and protection of the environment in all its planning processes.
But the State Government's proposals are just another grab for control by excluding local communities, reducing transparency and fast tracking development despite the environmental consequences," Ms Moore said.. Wed Jan 2008 04:01 (11 months, 2 weeks ago)
