CONSTRUCTION STARTS ON $60 MILLION RETIREMENT VILLAGE AT WOODCROFT
Work has commenced on a new $60 million retirement village for ageing Baby Boomers in Adelaide’s southern suburbs. The Reserve Lifestyle Village at Woodcroft will be developed by South Australia’s Pickard Norris Joint Venture and sold under the Lifestyle SA brand. Located on Sir James Hardy Way, The Reserve Lifestyle Village will comprise of 150 homes, a community centre and resort-style recreational facilities.
Lifestyle SA Development Director Stephen Norris says the village will welcome its first residents in late 2009. “This is an exciting project that will provide first-rate accommodation for over-55s in the southern suburbs,” said Mr Norris. “Importantly, The Reserve will help ease the serious shortfall of modern housing for retirees south of Adelaide, particularly for the burgeoning Baby Boomer population entering the next phase of their lives.” The Reserve Lifestyle Village will offer buyers the choice of two or three-bedroom homes featuring a combination of formal and informal living areas, some with double garaging.
Building on Lifestyle SA’s innovative approach to community living, The Reserve Lifestyle Village will incorporate a community centre and a range of luxurious recreational facilities, including an indoor heated swimming pool and spa, gymnasium, library, billiard room and an entertainment venue for social gatherings. Homes within the state-of-the-art development will feature fibre-optic cabling for highspeed broadband internet and pay-TV accessibility, as well as a dedicated television station detailing village news and activities. Security measures will include automatic card-only access gates, a live-in caretaker and 24-hour emergency assistance monitoring in each home.
“From our experience retirees want the security and low maintenance living that a village environment can provide and a package that allows them to enjoy the lifestyle of their dreams,” said Mr Norris. “The Lifestyle Village concept has been specifically designed to cater for modern-day retirees, who relish the spacious layout of homes, the abundance of recreational facilities and the friendly, social environment. “The expectations of this generation of retirees are steadily rising and we’re offering them an option suited to their current lifestyle with many features to enhance their life in retirement.” Mr Norris said homes in The Reserve are now being sold off the plan, with buyers able to place a fully refundable $500 deposit to reserve their place in the village.
Established in 2000 as a subsidiary of the Pickard Norris Joint Venture, Lifestyle SA now manages nine Lifestyle Villages across Adelaide including Walkley Heights, Pasadena, Hope Valley, Salisbury, Happy Valley, Seaford, Evanston Park, Parafield Gardens and Golden Grove. The company aims to own and manage more than 2500 homes in 13 Lifestyle Villages across SA by 2012. On completion of these villages, Lifestyle SA – through the Pickard Norris Joint Venture – will have a total investment of approximately $1 billion in contemporary retiree housing solutions for South Australians.
