House looks into gov’t’s ability to ensure food safety
10/07/2008 A panel in the House of Representatives will try to determine the effectiveness of the government’s efforts to ensure that the country’s food imports are safe for consumption amidst the fears sparked by the reports of milk made from China being reportedly tainted with toxic chemical. The House committee on agriculture will begin a series of hearings today on toxic food imports and the government’s ability to ensure food safety amid ongoing efforts to monitor milk and other products from China due to the so-called melamine scare. The committee headed by Rep.
