Katy Perry to be immortalised in plastic

Heading to Australia in early October for her first ever tour is US pop sensation Katy Perry , who’s topped charts worldwide with her smash hit “I Kissed A Girl”. Now the 23-year-old starlet has a real measure of her success – she’s being made into a limited edition doll. New York based toy company Integrity Toys is producing the plastic likeness of Perry, which will be based on the look the singer dons in her video for the single “Ur So Gay” (taken from her LP One Of The Boys).

Retailing for AUS$61, the company says they’ll produce only 500 toys – and are intending on distributing 150 of them to “industry tastemakers”. “It makes good sense for Katy, who is a blossoming global pop culture superstar,” says Bob Semanovich, Senior Vice President at Perry’s label, Capital Music Group. “It’s a perfect extension of her brand as she’s music, fashion and everything pop culture.” The dolls go on sale in the States next week..
